Backstreet Boys announce 20th anniversary tour, album

The Backstreet Boys are releasing a new album and embarking on a tour to mark their 20th anniversary as a band.

The Everybody (Backstreet’s Back) hitmakers formed in Orlando, Florida in 1993, and to celebrate their two decades together they are heading out on the road.

The band announced the news on Ryan Seacrest’s U.S. radio show on Monday morning, and singer Nick Carter declared, “That’s right, baby! All five of us are back together. It’s our 20th anniversary tour. We’ve got a brand new album coming out.”

The trek will kick off in Chicago, Illinois on August 2 and will feature Jesse McCartney and Paul ‘DJ Pauly D’ Delvecchio. [Source]

Backstreet Boys Will Receive Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

The Backstreet Boys, who have sold more than 130 million albums worldwide, the most for a boy band, will receive the 2,495th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame April 22nd in connection with their 20th anniversary.

The star will be in front of the Live Nation Building at 7072 Hollywood Blvd., next to the star of another popular boy band Boyz II Men, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, which administers the Walk of Fame, announced today.

Max Martin, who has produced and written some of the Backstreet Boys’ works, plus a special fan of the group will speak at the ceremony, according to Ana Martinez, producer of the Walk of Fame ceremonies.

The ceremony will be streamed at walkoffame.com beginning at 11:30 a.m.

The ceremony will come two days after a fan celebration at the Henry Fonda Theatre in Hollywood.

The band — A.J. McLean, Brian Littrell, Howie Dorough, Kevin Richardson and Nick Carter — was formed in 1993 and released their self-titled first album in 1996, which received diamond certification from the Recording Industry Association of America. [Source]

Backstreet Boys back in Malaysia

THE Twin Towers @Live franchise is back for the third time and will host major local, international and K-Pop acts in conjunction with the PETRONAS Malaysia grand prix weekend.

Now in the lineup that already features pop star Demi Lovato and K-Pop artistes U-Kiss accompanied by local stars Atilia and K-Town Clan on March 22, are the Backstreet Boys, headlining the March 23 show with Korean sensation UI and Malaysians Mizz Nina and Caprice.

The Backstreet Boys, one of the biggest boy bands ever with more than 130 million albums sold worldwide are set to celebrate its 20th Anniversary as a band, this year.

With the band set to embark on its reunion tour across the US in May, the appearance in KL will be the perfect warmup and a special occasion for local fans.

The quintet, comprising AJ McLean, Brian Littrell, Kevin Richardson, Howie Dorough, and Nick Carter, has developed its music over the years — from the teen-inspired pop tunes that made them superstars to more adult contemporary undertones evident in their come-back albums — Never Gone in 2005 and Unbreakable, two years later.

The 2009 release of This Is Us featured big hook songs like PDA, Bye Bye Love and Straight Through My Heart featured tracks that reminded fans of the Backstreet Boys magic.

The album featured the group’s classic sound and vision while also placing it squarely in today’s music environment.

Happy Chinese New Year from the Backstreet Boys

The Backstreet Boys will perform on a gala hosted by China’s Liaoning Television to celebrate the Chinese New Year, Sohu.com reports.

The Boys were in Shenyang, the provincial capital of Liaoning, on Thursday, January 17, 2013 to prerecord the show, which will air on February 8. The 2013 Chinese New Year begins on February 10.

Earlier this month, the band opened an account on Tencent Weibo, a popular microblogging service in China. [Source]

Backstreet Boys Play MGM Grand

The Backstreet Boys, who will celebrate 20 years in show business in 2013, return to the stage Friday, Dec. 28, 8 p.m., at the MGM Grand Theater.
The group of five boys had amazing success as a boy band, first in Europe and then in the U.S. Their self titled album was released in 1996, followed by “Backstreet’s Back” and the hugely successful “Millennium” in 1999. And yes, the have a Christmas album.
As in any band there was drama, breakups, rehab, someone leaving. They have reunited, but the Foxwood shot includes four of the original members: A.J. McLean, Brian Littrell, Nick Carter and Howie Dorough. (Kevin Richardson, Littrell’s cousin, gets back on tour in 2013. [Source]
