A member of the Backstreet Boys tells police that $120,000 in jewelry was stolen from a Stone Mountain hotel where he and his wife were staying.

Brian Littrell tells WSB-TV they were leaving Stone Mountain Park outside Atlanta when they realized the jewelry had been left on a nightstand in their hotel room. He said that when they returned to the hotel to retrieve the items, they were gone.

Leighanne Littrell says the $120,000 in jewelry included her engagement ring valued at $110,000.

WSB reports that police were at the hotel Sunday night. It wasn’t immediately clear when the reported theft occurred. [Source]

Brian Littrell of Backstreet Boys talks about the band, fans and rivals

Posted by Nicky on Jul 28,2011. No Comments

Brian Littrell, member of the Backstreet Boys and heartthrob at large, is making his way to Hershey. The same man whose faced grinned from posters on bedroom walls and covers of teen magazines has joined up with his band mates and New Kids on the Block for a concert tour that makes every boy-band fan’s dream come true. Their next destination? Hersheypark Stadium Saturday.

Even if the name Backstreet Boys sounds foreign, chances are you know their music. The group shot to fame in the late 90s with hits like “Quit Playing Games With My Heart,” and “I Want It That Way.” Six of the group’s albums have been in the Billboard 200 Top 10. It has recorded numerous hit songs and has been nominated for seven Grammy Awards.

When BSB’s first U.S. album debuted in 1997, Littrell’s photo made elementary students squeal. Now, 14 years later, those same kids are adults — and many have kept on screaming.

The band has done a fair bit of growing as well. Their music has changed from standard boy band pop to acoustic rock to dance and they lost a member, Kevin Richardson. Littrell has shed his nickname “B-Rock,” in favor of his first name. “I’ve kinda out grown that phase,” he says.

“I got that title growing up as a Backstreet Boy, being a young man,” he says. “That’s not really my title now. I’m a grown man, husband, father.” Read the rest of this entry »

Backstreet Boys, New Kids on the Block bring boy-band mania to Grand Rapids

Posted by Nicky on May 24,2011. No Comments

Brian Littrell of the Backstreet Boys is having trouble buying flooring at Home Depot.

“My wife and I just purchased a used Airstream trailer, and we’re redoing it,” he said, jovially, in a phone interview from a Home Depot store near his Atlanta home. He said this before the trouble started.

The 36-year-old member of the bestselling boy band of all time chats about life, family, faith and flooring as he roams the home improvement store, looking for the perfect surface material for his wife, Leighanne’s, “business mobile.”

“She started an at-home business a few years ago when she couldn’t find a cool diaper bag,” he said. “Now everywhere (the tour) goes, we bring the Airstream and have Wylee Bag parties in it.” (Wyleebags.com sells totes, purses, backpacks and more.) Read the rest of this entry »

Forever young: the Backstreet Boys’ Brian Littrell

Posted by Nicky on Mar 21,2011. No Comments

The numbers speak for themselves: The Backstreet Boys have sold more than 130 million albums, released 24 singles and are now in the middle of their ninth tour. The pop act’s 2007 album, Unbreakable, is aptly named, especially when it comes to Brian Littrell. The 35-year-old singer was born with a heart defect, which has required him to undergo several surgeries over the years. In 2008, his son Baylee was diagnosed with atypical Kawasaki disease, which causes an inflammation of the arteries. And this past October, Littrell had to cancel several shows and appearances after being diagnosed with swine flu. Littrell called City Link from his Atlanta home May 14 while recovering from another minor surgery. The resilient crooner with the slight Southern accent was in good spirits, even breaking into a pitch-perfect verse of “I Want It That Way.”

What has it been like being on the road again?
[This Is Us, Backstreet's latest album] came out in October of last year. So the This Is Us tour started in November of last year over in Europe. We did all of Europe last fall and winter. Then, we did Southeast Asia, Australia, Japan and now, we’re kicking off the U.S. leg of the tour. In August, we’ll be in Canada and in November, we’re talking about South America. It only takes us 12 or 14 months to get around the whole world, but we’re excited to be touring back home. It’s definitely a nice, rewarding thing to be able to tour in your home country.
